Official Google Blog: Adding search power to public data

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Google just launched a new search feature that makes it easy to find and compare public data. So for example, when comparing Santa Clara county data to the national unemployment rate, it becomes clear not only that Santa Clara’s peak during 2002-2003 was really dramatic, but also that the recent increase is a bit more drastic than the national rate.

But knowing how to install them and get them to work properly will most likley require a web expert. The following are gallery examples that function as plug-ins to the popular Wordpress blog.

The above is an interesting way to present image galleries and create add texture to the page. A nice way to illustrate concept and finished piece side by side.

Visualization is knowledge construction

communication_tools_slide1

Visualization is not a set of guidelines to manage and present information; it is closely tied to the process of knowledge construction as it exists within the culture creating and viewing the graphics. Visualization is communication–its own language.
